Real Wedding | Joanie & Brett's Navy + Copper Save the Date

We've said it a million times...but we just LOVE it when a DIY couple's design shows up in our inbox. Our most recent bride to show us her handy work is Joanie! Thank you so much Joanie for letting us share your GORGEOUS Save the Date with everyone. They're awesome and we love your "out of the box" printing technique tips too! We'll pocket those for later and try them out ourselves.

From Joanie: "The inspiration for these Save the dates came when I was looking for a dress for our engagement party and I came across this beautiful vintage dress in a navy and gold floral jacquard and I thought the colors would compliment the Floral Banner theme of your stamps.  I was thinking "regal", "antique" sort of in that over embellished baroque way and then I came across some old bronze buttons that looked a bit tarnished and I loved the idea of swapping out the gold for bronze.  So that's how I landed on matte navy & bronze." 

The materials used (besides the stamps from Antiquaria) all came from Paper Presentation (http://paperpresentation.com).

"I stamped the back of the Crenelle cards with the Classic Tea Flower Stamp first allowing them to completely  dry before stamping the Save the Date on the other side.

For the large save the date stamp I found that simply covering the stamp with ink and pressing it to the card did not yield an even impression so I thought "What would Benjamin Franklin do?" and I grabbed my rolling pin.  I inked up the stamp, laid the card on top of it and simply rolled the pin over it first north to south and then east to west and the impression was perfect with very little effort exerted.  These need to air dry over night to ensure they do not rub off.  The metallic ink takes awhile to set.  It will smear and smudge onto the envelopes if they are not completely dry.

The same goes for the website cards.  Stamp all the small cards first to let them completely dry while you are stamping the outside of the envelopes. Once you have stuffed all the envelopes cut the twine into 12 inch segments and tie them up like a present. "

"I made up my own calligraphy for the addresses. Mainly I just made the r's and m's very loopy.  I recommend hand addressing the A6 envelopes first letting them air dry over night and then stamping the return address on the outer flap, making sure that the stamps are completely dry before you stack them up."

We love it when clients take on the challenge of addressing their own envelopes! These turned out beautifully.

SPOTTED | Erica's Gold Glitter Art Nouveau Save the Dates

We say it every. single. time. We LOVE to see what people create with our stamp designs!

This lovely DIY Save the Date comes from Erica. She embossed our Art Nouveau Save the Date stamp and our Art Nouveau Return Address stamp (which we customized a little for her) with black embossing powder to create this classic but glam design. 

How much do you love the gold glitter liner paper? We're just drooling over here. It's actually wrapping paper from Paper Source!

SPOTTED | Nicole's Watercolor DIY Save the Dates

I know we've said it before...but we sure to love it when client share their own projects with us. It makes us EXTREMELY happy to see all of the awesome things you guys are creating with our designs.

Lovely Nicole, sent over her Save the Dates recently and we were blown away! She used our Art Deco Save the Date stamp as well as our Art Deco Website Card stamp to achieve this suite. She followed our Palm Springs Save the Date tutorial over on Oh So Beautiful Paper but tweaked it to suit her own event.

Real Save the Date | Merrissa & Patrick's Stamped Vintage Postcard

We are thrilled when we find snapshots of our client's project's in our mailbox. It makes our day:)

Merrissa's Save the Date postcard was no exception. She's currently in the process of DIY-ing her invitation suite--which hopefully she will also share with us!

It's such a fun (and easy) idea to stamp your save the date on a vintage postcard inspired by the theme or location of your event. Instead of hunting for vintage postcards...Merrissa simply went to Zazzle (if you haven't been there-it's totally worth a look) and picked her favorite.

She used regular black ink and added these adorable apple postcard stamps!

DIY Tutorial | Blue and White Stamped Save the Date

Real Invitation | Alison's DIY Save the Date

We love it when our customers share their creative DIY projects with us. Alison made these absolutely gorgeous save the dates using our "Art Nouveau" save the date stamp. We can't wait to see what she does for her invitation!

DIY Tutorial | Vintage Handkerchief Save the Dates

We love vintage handkerchiefs!!  This tutorial uses our our custom rubber stamps to create very classy and original save the dates.  These offer your guests a true keepsake and set the tone for your vintage wedding!

Step One:

After washing and ironing the handkerchiefs to the desired size, choose stamp pad and ink up the custom  Save the Date stamp.  We used the "Art Nouveau" Save the Date Stamp on these handkerchieves. On a hard and sturdy work surface, place inked stamp on the handkerchief and apply even pressure.  Gently lift off stamp.

Step Two:

Most couples will find it necessary to include accommodation options with their Save the Date--including them in the invitation is often too late to capture discounted rates, etc.  For this Save the Date, we printed out an accommodations card with a compatible font, we then used our Wreath Monogram stamp to accent the enclosure.

Step Three:

Slide the accommodations card into the handkerchief and using your desired ribbon, tie them together, like a present.

Step Four:

Using a coordinating return address stamp {Wildflowers Return Address Stamp}, ink the stamp and place it in the center of your square envelope.

**Remember to do this before you or a calligrapher addresses them so that you don't have to re-do any if you get a bad inking.**

Vintage Handkerchieves - Iron to 5.5 x 5.5 squares with starch and a hot iron. Troll Ebay for lots of handkerchieves.  It is more affordable to buy them in bulk than one at a time.  Expect to pay $1-3 per handkerchief for vintage handkerchieves for this project.  Etsy and local thrifts are other good places to look for them.

Colorbox Stamp Pad - we used a variety of pinks and neutrals for this project.

Custom Save the Date Stamps : Part I

We are super excited about the newest addition to our Rubber Stamp Collection: Save the Date Stamps!

There are so many creative ways to use these custom stamps for your Save the Dates. One of our favorites is stamping the back of vintage postcards. Here are a few of our favorite designs:
