The Last Friday of Summer.

Dear Friends,

Can you believe that summer is gone and autumn is knocking at the door? With the waves of heat we've been experiencing lately, it makes it even harder to feel the seasons changing. But alas, they are.

We've spent our summer catching up on our long to-do list & designing lots and lots of new goodies. I'm sure that many of you have already checked out our new greeting card collection! All of the cards are also available as boxed sets as well, if you (like us) send cards like the post office is going out of business (please NO never!).

We've been dying to bring you customized stationery as well...and we're going to do just that! Note sets really are SO useful for quick thank you notes, wedding gifts or as a gift enclosures. We're super excited about how the line is shaping up and we know you're going to LOVE it!

Here on the blog...stay tuned for updates as well as a whole new season of super informative Calligraphy posts (more on those next week!). When back to school season hits, we get in the mood to teach! 

Speaking of teaching...our last workshops of 2014 are coming up soon!  They're being held in Austin on October 4th and there still a few spots left in each class. We'd love to see all of you calligraphy fans come for a day of lettering fun! You can register for the classes here.

 In our Script 101 class, we will teach the basics of pointed pen calligraphy and go through the alphabet a-z. All students receive a calligraphy supply kit and all of the information on how to go home and continue in their lettering practice. Oct. 4, 10am,-1pm | Austin, TX | $150

In our debut Script 102 class, we'll be diving deeper and teaching students about variations in script and how to create their own style of calligraphy. It's going to be a great class and a really informative and inventive session!! Oct. 4, 2pm-5pm | Austin, TX | $150

Script Studies 101: Modern Pointed Pen Calligraphy

AUSTIN, TEXAS | SATURDAY FEBRUARY 1, 2014

A great place to get started! If you’ve never picked up a pointed calligraphy pen before or your lettering needs a little help, this is the class for you. We will guide you step-by-step as you dive into the art of calligraphy and practice letterforms. This workshop is an intensive look at the fundamentals of Script Calligraphy. We will be teaching a modern version of Copperplate script in order to give students a good foundation for their modern lettering practice. 

In addition to letterform structure, we will teach how to make good letter connections, proper spacing and how to design words. We will also teach you how to work with differents inks and mix custom colors with gouache.  Each student will work to create a rubber stamp design with a special word or phrase in their own lettering by the end of the class!

Class can accommodate up to 20 students. Fees include supplies and lunch.

Transportation and accommodations not included.

Fee: $350 or $650 for Script 101 + Monogram Design

Monogram Design Workshop

AUSTIN, TEXAS | SUNDAY FEBRUARY 2, 2014

Who doesn’t LOVE a monogram? We definitely do! You know what makes it even more awesome? When it’s designed just for you, by you. That’s right, folks-we’re breaking down the art of monogram design and teaching you the all of the skills that you need to create your very own custom design. Whether you’re style is modern, flourish-y or somewhere in between, you’ll come away with a design (or 5) that you’ll want to put on EVERYTHING.

Each student will work to create one finished monogram design that will be digitized for digital media use and made into a custom rubber stamp. We’ll also have options available for ordering custom coasters, letterpress stationery and embossers.

Class can accommodate up to 20 students. Fees include supplies and lunch.

Transportation and accommodations not included.

SO INSPIRED | Folk Fibers

Being lovers of all things hand-crafted, it's no wonder we are swooning over the work of (fellow Austin dweller) Maura Grace Ambrose of Folk Fibers. Her fabrics are hand dyed using natural dyes such as Walnut wells, Cochineal and Indigo and each quilt is totally hand stitched. We love this modern take on old-world techniques. Bonus! She was just feature in the latest Martha Stewart Living!
