Calligraphy Tutorial | the Capital Letter "J"

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Hopefully a great (long) weekend was had by all. We're here today with the capital letter "J"! Frankly speaking...it's not our favorite (we've had a string of them lately haven't we?) but since both of our names have a "J" in them (Jane and James)...it's one that we've had to learn to love.

As with the "I" from last week, "J" can be TRICKY to make legible. As you can see from the diagram above, it's VERY similar in form to the "I." Be careful to not too heavily flourish this letter as it can very difficult to read once it's ornate.

Speaking from experience, the "J's" that descend below the line (#1 and #3) tend to be easier to read than if they don't (#2).

GOOD LUCK and happy practicing!! Let us know which version is YOUR favorite! Be sure to tag your practice with #letterschool on Instagram and leave us a note if you have any questions.

Until next time...
Peace, Love and Letters,
Emma & Bailey
